What is wooden floor sanding & why is it necessary?

Floor sanding involves removing the top layer of a wooden floor to reveal a fresh surface underneath. It’s necessary to eliminate scratches, dents and worn finishes thus restoring the floor’s natural beauty.

Is restoring my wooden floor cheaper than a new one?

Yes, in most cases wooden floor restoration will cost a fraction of the cost of having a new wooden floor fitted.

How often should I have my floors sanded?

What types of floors can be sanded?

Our expert floor sanding services are suitable for various wood flooring types, including hardwood, engineered wood, & parquet floors.

How long does the floor sanding process take?

The duration varies depending on the size of the area and the extent of the work. On average, a single room can take a day or two, whilst larger spaces may require a couple of days.

Will there be dust during the sanding process?

We use advanced dust containment systems to minimize dust during the sanding process, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. Our machines are from the world-renowned BONA which allows us to offer a 99.9% dust-free environment.

What is the difference between sanding and refinishing?

Sanding removes the top layer of the wood to eliminate imperfections, while refinishing involves applying finishes like stains and protective coatings to enhance the wood’s appearance and durability.

Can I stay home while the work is being done?

While it’s possible to stay in your home whilst we complete the work, many of our customers pre-arrange access with the team as they often have other things to do during that time period. All you have to do is let us know which you would prefer and we can arrange everything to suit you. On occasion you may be required to be away overnight, this is often due to the hallway or kitchen being worked on & the need for the lacquer to dry. However, all of this will be discussed with you during your free consultation.

Do I need to move furniture before the work starts?

To ensure a smooth process, it’s best to move furniture and belongings out of the work area prior to our team’s arrival. We recommend clearing the area of any rugs, furniture and personal items. We also recommend creating a safe space for children and pets away from the work area.

Are your products safe for my family and pets?

Yes, our products are environmentally friendly and safe for your family and pets. However, during the sanding and refinishing process, we recommend keeping pets away from the work area. When completing the contact us section let us know about your pets and we will be able to factor this into the consultation and discuss the lacquers we have available. As we use BONA products we are able to offer lacquers that are utilised for high-traffic areas such as school halls.
